still, I’ll praise you: celebrating Calla

September 15, 2020January 16, 2021|Meagan |0 comment|blog, blog + header, story session

Turning pain into praise. This family has had the unfortunate opportunity of doing just that. But goodness, they are doing it beautifully. When you watch someone journey this life the way that these two are, there is no denying the presence of our King. He is writing a story that is bigger than we can […]

Taken from Calla’s homecoming celebration announcement… “Calla’s vision is one of color and sparkle, glitter and glam, so please expect nothing less as we honor her beautiful heart and praise God for the forever impact she has made on each of us.” Calla, sweet girl, I think your vision was accomplished. This day was one […]

I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years. I’ve been given the gift of telling family stories … photographing babies as they grow, parents as they love. I’ve had the privilege to be a part of lives and celebrations filled with so much joy. There have been many moments I’ve photographed with tears in my […]

dear calla, I met your dad first. My husband, Shane, had recently taken a job at the church, and your dad was one of the first people he connected with. They got along right away – they have so much in common. First, their similar, goofy personalities that seem to come out the most when […]

turning pain into praise

July 10, 2020January 16, 2021|Meagan |2 Comments|blog, blog + header, story session

For a year, I have tried to write about this. 365 days of trying to put words to a grief I’ve never experienced… and a redemption that I didn’t know my soul needed. Then I found this: “And I did not know that in the middle of much pain and grief and loss, I would […]

A New Day

August 20, 2019January 16, 2021|Meagan |0 comment|blog, blog + header

Hi friends. I know it’s been a minute since I’ve been around. It’s been a whirlwind of a summer. It’s possibly been the hardest summer of our lives, but it’s also been one of the best. Here’s a quick recap: Shane was offered a job at Lakeside Christian Church in Northern Kentucky, and we are […]

I am honored and love every opportunity to document stories for others, but I need to be better about sharing my own stories here, too. 🖤

Getting back into weddings means getting back to e Getting back into weddings means getting back to engagement sessions. 🤩💍
.
Zach and Grace are getting married later this year, and I’m so excited to get to be a part of it. More of their downtown New Albany engagement session coming to my blog soon. 👏🏻
One year ago... Winnie was curled up in my lap, un One year ago... Winnie was curled up in my lap, unsure and uneasy about her momma being in the hospital. Thankfully, the snacks and cartoons were plentiful. 😆

We had been in such a season of unknowns with our Archie boy, and on this day, we rushed to labor and delivery for what everyone suspected was preterm labor.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thankfully, it wasn't labor, and our sweet baby stayed put for another 6 weeks. Turns out, when you have a massive kidney stone, it can feel a heck of a lot like contractions. Whew. 😰
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a time full of fear and anxiety, the kidney stone was almost a welcome distraction. That is, until they explained what would come next when the stone needed to... exit. lol 😳🙈 BUT. By God's good grace, the stone unexpectedly broke up and didn't cause me any more grief or pain, hallelujah and amen. 🙌🏻😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What we didn't know then was this was just the start of a beautiful pattern in our lives. Tender mercies, if you will.

I think one of the greatest gifts we can experience on this earth is the opportunity to look back and see Him in those moments. When we were faced with fear, He met us there with mercy. Where we were paused and holding our breath, He was there with His perfect peace. And when we finally had our boy in our arms, He was with there, loving our Archie even more than we can imagine. 🤍

We’re walking through these memories, one day at a time. Forgive me if these posts seem cryptic or ambiguous. It’s taken us this entire year to really process, and sharing it in this space is just another way we’re working through understanding what could have been.
Creative people should not be working 9-5. Creati Creative people should not be working 9-5.

Creative people should be working like LIONS:
- sit
- wait for prey
- SPRINT
- eat/enjoy
- rest and repeat

But, instead, most are working like cows: standing in the field day after day, grazing grass slowly.

One year ago, we were heading into what we didn’ One year ago, we were heading into what we didn’t know would be a very dark and scary season. We are so thankful (beyond thankful, really) that our fears were put to rest and we have a healthy, wild boy on our hands. We know of so many who have not had the same outcome.

We know it could have been so different. There’s a pit in my stomach that will always remind me of the what-ifs we had to prepare for. My biggest fear was driving home from the hospital with an empty car seat. But through the unexplainable, we brought home a thriving baby instead of broken hearts.

This has always been one of my favorite photos at This has always been one of my favorite photos at the Madison - winter weddings mean more off-camera light, so we might as well get a little dramatic with it! 💥

Galentine’s Day is our day. We always spend it together, making sweet treats for Shane, and now for Archie, too. 🥰 She’s my #1 girl, and I’m so thankful to spend this day with her every year. 💖

I’ve had a few questions come my way, and I thou I’ve had a few questions come my way, and I thought I’d share the answers here...

If you want more info about my wedding availability, the best way to do this is through my website. I’ll put a link in my profile to my wedding information request page! 💍

If you want to see my wedding portfolio, you can also do that via my website. It’s easy to find, but I can DM you the link. 💕

If you’re considering booking your wedding, the time is now! There are still a handful (or more) of Covid-postponed couples that are looking for vendors this year, too. So, between new engagements and rescheduled 2020 weddings, this year will be a busy year for all of your wedding vendors! 📸
some fun thoughts about this proposal:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. It was cozy warm and even a little humid in the @krohnconservatory, and had me craving summer ☀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. All of the green was welcome to these tired-of-drab-winter eyes 🌱 I’ve never shot here before, but you’d better believe I’ll be back 🤩
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Cody and Hannah were so fun and so cute, and I was surprised to learn that they are both from the same part of Indiana that I’m from #smallworld 👏🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Hannah’s ring was so gorgeous 😍 aaand it is an antique that Cody surprised her with 💍 there are more photos of it and more at my website, the link is in my profile!
